Framin' Works was proudly named PHOENIX magazine's Best of the Valley in 2011 and 2023. We were also named the Best of Phoenix by the Phoenix New Times in 2023.
Owner Alan is a member of the Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA), CPF (Certified Picture Framer) through the PPFA, and past president of the Arizona PPFA chapter. He is also a three-time first-place PPFA picture-framing competition winner, enjoying the more creative side of picture framing. After being featured in Decor magazine on and off since 1996, Decor asked him to be a contributing columnist in 2010.
Stop going to the box stores for framing and try a Valley original. Please feel free to follow us on Facebook, X, and Instagram. By the way, we love getting your reviews!
Established in 1974, Framin' Works was originally a franchise by the name of Frame Factory. Dorothy, the original owner, along with six other franchisees, sued to get out from under the franchise due to a lack of support here in Arizona. They then became Framin' Works, the name we hold to this day.
Along came Alan in 1995 to answer a job application. He purchased the shop in March 1996 and never left. Framin' Works is like his second home. The shop has since gone through a radical transformation in terms of creativity, layout, efficiency, and technology. We have won three blue ribbons in picture framing competitions, been featured in Decor magazine nine times for outstanding framing, and were Best in the Valley by Phoenix Magazine in 2011 and 2023.
Alan has a degree in advertising and graphic design and worked in the framing industry to pay for school. After graduation, he worked at an advertising agency but dabbled in picture framing for fun. He met his future wife in school, and it took him four years to ask her to marry him. They have been happily married since 1992 and have two kids. Alan is a certified USA Triathlon coach, and for fun, he coaches youth and junior athletes with TriProject. He still paints a bit, but it is on bicycle helmets and other stuff for the kids. Stop by Framin' Works today to get to know more about me and my framing business!
